NZ’s General Election preliminary results delivered Winston Peters (leader of NZ First) as the “king/queen maker”, as predicted by the polls. While National grabbed the highest share of the vote, the Labour and Green parties managed to get enough votes to keep a Labour-Green-NZ First coalition a possibility. This potentially puts Peters in a powerful position once the final votes are counted and coalition negotiations begin in earnest.
