This week we explore the recent path of the neutral real interest rate (or Goldilocks rate – not too hot, not too cold) in NZ on Page 2. We find that it has been drifting lower since the Global Financial Crisis, which has implications for a wide variety of New Zealanders. In our Chart of the Week this week, we take a closer look at the recent currency movements of emerging economies. In the week ahead, electronic card transactions are the key local release.
