Businesses in South Canterbury which want to remain competitive must think globally, Icebreaker chief executive Rob Fyfe says.
Technology was changing the face of rural and provincial New Zealand and competition was no longer just on the door step, but could be anywhere in the world, he said.
"So we have to now have a global perspective."
Fyfe's comments followed a keynote speech to 130 businesspeople at the inaugural South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce Innovate Conference at the Stonebridge Function Centre in Geraldine on Wednesday.
