The South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce based in the city of Timaru is dedicated to the progress and prosperity of the South Canterbury region and city of Timaru as a pre-eminent region both nationally and globally. The Chamber has been actively involved in a number of issues pertinent to the development and well being of South Canterbury.

The Chamber continues to play a strong role for the business community on a wide range of issues, working together in the interests of the community, to make the South Canterbury region a better place to develop and promote your business.

 

Business Excellence Awards 2010 

Tickets are now on sale for the 2010 Business Excellence Awards.  Numbers are limited so get in early to avoid missing out.

The awards evening is taking place on Thursday, September 9, at the Caroline Bay Hall, featuring celebrity MC Carol Hirschfeld with guest speaker Mike Pero, founder of Mike Pero Mortgages.

The Chamber is once again the principle sponsor for the event and considers the awards a significant way to support and encourage local busineses.

Empowering Women - focus on financial literacy

Giving women the financial tools to help them better understand their family, business or future finances, is the motivation behind a workshop series being run  in Timaru. 

 

Empowering Women is an initiative of the Aoraki Development Trust and the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce.  It was launched in June, and features six workshops from July to December, all targeting different aspects of financial management.  The workshops are being run on the first Thursday of each month, from 9am - midday: 

September 2 - Growing Wealth Through Developing a Business

 

October 14 - Growing Wealth Through Buying Shares or Managed Funds

 

November 4 - Growing Wealth Through Property

 

December 2 - Growing Yourself Through Career Developments and Directorships
