New Business Training Directory

January 17, 2012

A comprehensive range of highly focussed training courses specifically for businesses is now on offer in South Canterbury.

The South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce and Aoraki Development Business and Tourism (ADBT) jointly run the Business Training Directory. In total there are 32 courses available from February through to November, and in many cases businesses may be able to access up to 50% funding to attend through the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Regional Business Partner voucher scheme.

“The courses have been developed after talking to local businesses and also looking at what is available elsewhere in the country,” says Chamber and ADBT chief executive Wendy Smith. “Last year we ran 24 courses with 482 individuals benefitting from this service,” she says.

The courses range from Social Media through to Accelerated Business Growth and Developing a Financial Plan and may either half day or full day workshops. Most of the courses are being held in Timaru, and there are also workshops planned forLakeTekapo and Geraldine.

“By offering these courses in South Canterbury, we are doing our best to help local businesses build the skill levels of themselves and their staff, without having to leave town, which is a significant financial saving for the businesses, and involves less downtime with staff away from their jobs,” says Mrs Smith.
